End of the Year: A look back at my favorite reads for 2014!
Happy New Years Eve Everyone! It's that time of year again, when we fondly rummage through all our books and remember certain characters, scenes, settings ... moments that place certain books and stories into our hearts and minds. This year I've discovered some amazing new authors and enjoyed some old favorites as well. Enjoy!
Young Adult Book Review: This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
This Shattered World is the amazing second installment in the Starbound trilogy and introduces a new pair of star-crossed lovers who are on opposite sides of a war-torn planet.
One of the most enjoyable facets of this series is the fact that though the story arc continues to subtlety build with each book, each story reads like a stand alone that features a new and exciting world, couples with a complete story-line that avoids cliffhanger endings, making each book seem familiar yet, new and complete.
The story opens up with the exciting new setting on the planet Avon, which is in the process of being terraformed, only an unknown source has been deliberately hindering the process. With Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac on opposing sides.
Happy Holidays 2014
Wishing you warmth and peace this season filled with joy, family, love and good health from Book Swoon!
Young Adult Book Review: Under Different Stars by Amy A. Bartol
Under Different Stars gave me the right combination of science fiction, action and sweet romance all wrapped-up in a dreamy cover.
The story is very easy to simply fall into, the writing quickly whisk you from Chicago, where our heroine Kricket is trying to stay under the radar from the foster care system until she turns eighteen, to the far of world off Ethar.
