Charley Davidson isn't your everyday, run-of-the-mill grim reaper. She's more of a paranormal private eye/grim reaper extraordinaire. However, she gets sidetracked when the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, moves in next door. To further complicate matters, Reyes is her main suspect in an arson case. Charley has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth...but then dead women start appearing in her apartment, one after another, each lost, confused, and terrified beyond reason. When it becomes apparent that her own sister, Gemma is the serial killer's next target, Charley has no choice but to ask for Reyes's help. Arsonist or not, he's the one man alive who could protect Gemma no matter who or what came at her. But he wants something in return. Charley. All of her, body and soul. And to keep her sister safe, it is a price she is willing to pay.

Charley Davidson is at it again in the sexy, suspenseful, and laugh-out-loud funny fifth installment of the New York Times best selling series.

So awesome! This series just keeps getting better and Charley is full of snark, Reyes is hotter than Hell, and this time around Charley has an apartment full of dead women suddenly appearing. This series just hit all the right buttons. Smoking hot romance with an alpha male (Reyes) that jumps right out of the paranormal world, a fabulous mystery that has several things going on at once, old friends both of the human and paranormal variety and new and old enemies as well. But, have no fear as Charley, aka Grim Reaper and crime solver, is up to the task.

Fifth Grave Past the Light is the fifth book in the wickedly funny Charley Davidson series and one not to be missed. Darynda Jones once again proved to me why I need this series in my life. She deftly spins her stories mingling snarky humor, paranormal mystery with a romance that's been building to a crescendo since book one. The dead have never been so funny nor heartfelt as they are in Charley hands. As a PI and Grim Reaper, Charley has made some unusual friends and scary as @#$% enemies along the way, and many are revisited again in this installment. Charley will need all the help she can get in order to try to solve the mystery behind the ghosts of murdered young girls, an arson case, and a simple case of adultery that all need her expertise. Add to that some secret text and archaic prophecies and it's just another day at the office for Charley.

I think this is my favorite installment so far. The mystery aspect and all its plot threads was masterfully done keeping me on edge throughout, and I was blown away by the major scene involving Charley and that bridge and that evil bastard! And Reyes. *Swoon* Can I just say that this is a whole new side to him that I love. The interaction between Charley and Reyes is sultry as every, but there's such a tender, vulnerable side to the relationship now and those sticky notes! Of course the story would not be the same without her sidekicks. Cookie, BFF and secretary extraordinaire, gave me plenty of smiles as she and Charley plot against Uncle Bob. Garrett Swopes brings to the table some very interesting prophesies about our very own grim reaper. Angel, Rocket and Blue,  Mr. Wong, even Artemis, and many more assist and give the story great depth as these secondary characters have become like family to fans of Darynda Jones and Charley Davidson.

Picking up a Charley Davidson book is completely intoxicating and it goes straight to your head. I had so much fun reading this installment and can't wait to see where it goes next!

My Rating: 5 stars. I Loved it!
