The Revolution of Ivy Blog Tour by Amy Engel: Review & Giveaway

Summary

Ivy Westfall is beyond the fence and she is alone. Abandoned by her family and separated from Bishop Lattimer, Ivy must find a way to survive on her own in a land filled with countless dangers, both human and natural. She has traded a more civilized type of cruelty--forced marriages and murder plots--for the bare-knuckled brutality required to survive outside Westfall's borders.

But there is hope beyond the fence, as well. And when Bishop reappears in Ivy's life, she must decide if returning to Westfall to take a final stand for what she believes is right is worth losing everything she's fought for.

Amy Engel was born in Kansas and after a childhood spent bouncing between countries (Iran, Taiwan) and states (Kansas; California; Missouri; Washington, D.C.), she settled in Kansas City, Missouri, where she lives with her husband and two kids.  Before devoting herself full-time to motherhood and writing, she was a criminal defense attorney, which is not quite as exciting as it looks on TV.  When she has a free moment, she can usually be found reading, running, or shoe shopping. The Book of Ivy is her debut YA novel. Review

Intense, emotional, and unbelievably hard to put down, THE REVOLUTION OF IVY is the much-anticipated sequel that began with The Book of Ivy. A book that introduced readers to the unforgettable Ivy Westfall and Bishop Lattimer. With a readable dystopian world, well-faceted characters to love, and sweepingly romantic-effectively causing many swoons, THE REVOLUTION OF IVY was all that I had hoped for in the conclusion of Amy Engel's duology.

I have been anxiously waiting on this book after reading and loving THE BOOK OF IVY and the cliffhanger ending that left me gasping. I wanted/needed to know what happens to Ivy, and more about what lies beyond the wall. Amy Engel does not disappoint readers by continuing to reveal an intriguing dystopian world while delivering intensity, twists, and danger keeping you on edge.

Ivy is one of those characters that is so realistically faceted, that you can not help but connect to her emotionally. It becomes increasingly clear in this last installment how resilient Ivy is. Torn emotionally by her duties to her family and the growing connection she shares with Bishop, Ivy struggled to find herself in THE BOOK OF IVY. With this book, Ivy is faced with dangers of a different kind, showing a determination and strength that fans are going to love. There are moments so emotionally charged, that your heart just goes out to her.

THE REVOLUTION OF IVY, the series, in fact, would not be the same without the Bishop. If you're on the hunt for a new "best book boyfriend" the undeniable romantic qualities of Bishop will not disappoint. Bishop's presence was one that I eagerly waited for in this last installment, and when it happens, Oh my! His sweetness, patience, strength are all there for Ivy - yet Amy Engel makes this couple (and readers) go through some gut-wrenching ups and downs, twists and turns before you know if they can survive the very dangerous world they are in, and the very heritage their fathers bitterly have surrounded them with.

Caleb and Ash are two additional characters that play pivotal roles in this story, and I felt myself easily becoming attached to this brother and sister! They brought out the best in Ivy & Bishop, and their help and friendship really added to the story.

THE REVOLUTION OF IVY is a fabulous conclusion to the series, I'm going to miss Ivy & Bishop and the wonderful world Amy Engel has created in The Book of Ivy duology! Suspenseful, action-filled, and romantically charged - this is a series for dystopian and romance fans to make sure are on their to-be-read list, if not already!
